Abstract:
Fitting – as a critical part of jeans production – causes lots of difficulties to manufacturers, regarding the applied washing and finishing technologies. Brands in the fight for solvent customers are willing to pay a higher price for good manufactured, well-finished, unique products, but – as regards to this – they expect excellent quality. Improvement of the fit is a significant part of it. Even the best design can be cancelled if the right measures and demanded finish are not solved. Revocation of an order can create a big economic loss to the manufacturer, and nevertheless to all the actors of the supply chain.

There are various tips and methods how to achieve the demanded cut within the tolerance of the size chart. Challenges start with the shrinkage differences within the fabrics, which is just one of the critical issues during the fitting process. A lot of effort has to be made during the product development to get the needed shape, altogether with the right shade of blue, and demanded washing/finishing effects.

This article summarizes key matters that have an impact on the design and fitting. It reviews steps of the product development and introduces some of the methods applied in getting the high-quality product.
